GEOMETRY

There will be a quiz or chapter test. on the average, each week.  Each quiz

will count 50 points and each chapter test will count 100 points.  Quizzes and

tests will count exactly (85'/, of the total grade in Geometry).  There will be

home work assignments almost EVERY day.  These  home work assignments will count

exactly 15% of the total grade.  The student is expected to keep a notebook with

class notes and sample problems.  This notebook and  home work may be used on

quizzes and tests.

Each day when you arrive in class there will be a problem or problems on

the board.  This board work will be counted as a DAILY PARTICIPATION GRADE (DPG) of 5

points if correct down to 4 points i-f totally wrong.  This DPG will be included

with the Quizzes/Tests when grades are calculated.  The DPG may  be made up by

students who are absent.  It is the responsibility o-f the absent student to ask

•for  the DPG and  to return  the work  to me.   Students who must  be  reminded  to open

books, get out  home work, etc. will receive a 3 -for their participation grade.

A student who must be reminded twice to start on the  home work will receive a

zero <0) -for the DPG that day.

There will calculator ACTIVITIES assigned on the average of one per week.

These ACTIVITIES will utilize the Cabri Geometry II software installed on the

Tl-92 calculators.  Each activity will count 20 points on Tests and Quizzes.

Various projects will also be included in the grading mix -for Tests and

Quizzes.  Some o-f these projects will be done in class, while others will

require time outside and may even be assigned over long breaks.

MY EXPECTATIONS OF STUDENT ACTIONS IN CLASS.

1.   Speak as you would like to be spoken to.

2.   Stay seated during lecture and class discussion unless it  is an

emergency.

3.   Shooting "BASKETS'  is unacceptable behavior.  A missed shot will

result in the shooter helping to keep "OUR" room clean by picking

up trash.

4.   Raise your hand to join the class discussion or to ask a question.

5.  Treat other students and the teacher the way you want to be

treated.

6.   When attendance  is being taken prepared yourself -for class; get

home work out, sharpen your pencil, and open your textbook.  I

check  home work immediately after taking attendance.

Pre-Calculus will be similar.  Tests and quizzes will be 90'/., and homework

will be 10%.   Notes may NOT be used on chapter  tests nor during the  trigonometry section

of  the  course.
